From Here to There

The way from here to there

leads to places familiar and unknown.

Seeking a way into the future, alone

I venture out into nearby neighborhoods,

walk between buildings and into alleys,

follow lakefront paths and woodland trails, cross bridges and discover hidden gardens.

Finally I end up at home again

aware that my narrow pandemic world

has broadened from my wanderings.

Now feeling a contentment,

even in my uncertainty,

I can continue from here to there.
